Richard Vijgen
Richard Vijgen (1982) is an artist and designer and one of PLANETART’s long term collaborative artists. In his work Vijgen looks into our data overflown world and makes this continuous traffic of information visible and - in many cases - tangible. He creates works that are poetic interpretations of data, providing critique and much needed reflection but also treating the spectator to mesmerizing images that really lure them in. Proposing a dialogue between the human perspective and its disembodied brain child consisting of networks, algorithms and wireless data.
Founded in 2009, Studio Richard Vijgen has been evolving into an experimental practice that explores new technologies, interactions and aesthetics to visualize the normally invisible day to day practice.
Vijgen’s work has not gone unnoticed; he writes about data visualization and digital culture for numerous magazines, his work has been rewarded with various awards and can be found in collections of museums and art institutions across the world.
