Videodrome (1983)

Videodrome follows Max Renn, the programmer of a small Toronto television station specializing in sensationalist entertainment, who discovers a mysterious broadcast consisting of apparently real scenes of torture and violence. His search for the source draws him into a conspiracy where television signals, hallucination, sexuality, and bodily transformation become increasingly impossible to separate.

Long before the internet and social media, David Cronenberg imagined a world in which consuming images could physically transform those who watch them. Television becomes both technology and flesh, collapsing the boundary between representation and reality. Through body horror, conspiracy, and media satire, Videodrome examines the seductive power of violent images and a culture in which control operates not simply through what people believe, but through what they desire to see.
