Rayan transforms the trans body of color into an otherworldly presence, pulsating, glitching and reshaping itself beyond familiar ideas of gender, race and the human. Wrapped in textiles, color and alien sound, the installation creates a world where otherness becomes something beautiful, soft and powerful. This time, it’s not the Alien who doesn’t belong. It’s us.

Rayan Naftchi is an artist exploring identity, otherness and the possibilities of self-creation through video, installation and sound. Drawing from their experience as a trans person of color and their Iranian background, Naftchi uses digital technologies to distort and deconstruct the body. Their practice reclaims the Alien as a figure of joy, freedom and resistance, inviting us to question who gets to define what it means to be human.
