This Is How You Take Away Freedom

Step into the dark. Under a lonely streetlamp, a broken-down street wall, an ATM and three payphones set the scene. What starts as a simple cash withdrawal quickly turns into something more sinister. An anonymous voice reveals a secret manual of manipulation, exposing the hidden mechanisms behind power, control and the erosion of freedom.

Groningen-based multidisciplinary artist Isa Boonstra, aka Dirty Baszi, creates rebellious, dark and story-driven work about technology, power, temporariness, life and death. Moving between music, installation and visual art, Baszi turns observations of everyday society into unsettling experiences that make the familiar feel just a little more dangerous.
