Monument of Peace (2026)

A monument of peace where no one is allowed to enter. A perfectly maintained lawn, fenced off with NATO wire, is mowed by a drone. The grass it's cared for without human presence. Peace is preserved, but uninhabitable. Can peace ever exist, or is conflict simply inherent to human beings?

HIMMELSBACH is a Dutch artist whose practice blends art, social research, and civic intervention. Through methods that range from community-based collaborations to political pranks, and investigations into alternative ways of living, he creates situations that connect large political questions to everyday life. His projects invite participants into a poetic, sometimes humorous form of engagement that challenges conventional perspectives and encourages dialogue across social boundaries.
