Elephant Woman: A History of Uploaded SELF
Evgeniia van Zonneveld
Female body is not light, joyful and maternal. Elephant Woman is a hybrid performance-installation featuring a female cyborg/replicant carrying the memories of her creator. Part machine, part archive, part new kind of human, she embodies trauma, resilience and resistance.
During a three-week GOGBOT x Concordia Productielab residency, Evgeniia will rework and expand the project through conversations with four mentors with different expertise. Expect a fresh take and a work that is still evolving.
Arnhem-based interdisciplinary artist Evgeniia van Zonneveld works across installation, sculpture and performance, bringing together clay, glass, metal and electronics. Her practice explores the strange territory between human and non-human, body and machine, biology and technology. She treats the female body as both a site of creation and conflict, questioning the identities and expectations society -and our own bodies- place upon us.
