Active Listening

This work connects the history of colonial surveillance and extraction to today’s data economy, where our voices, behaviours and personal information become valuable commodities. By looking at technologies such as voice assistants, the work questions who gets to collect our data, who benefits from it, and whether we can take back control.

During a three-week GOGBOT x Concordia Productielab residency, Anna will rework and expand the project through conversations with four mentors with different expertise. Expect a fresh take, new perspectives and a work that is still evolving.

Groningen-based media artist and interdisciplinary researcher Anna Musikhina investigates the hidden systems that quietly run our digital lives. Her concept of Digital Wisdom explores algorithms, data flows and infrastructures through a critical, hands-on approach shaped by her background in biometric technologies.
