Alberta Balsam

Rotterdam-based cosmic runner Alberta Balsam throws glitchy rhythms, skittering percussion and wild synths when you less expect them. Riding a fine line between IDM, breakbeats, bass, leftfield techno she creates high-energy DJ sets. Her hardware-driven live sets are unpredictable, energetic and deeply immersive, with appearances at Dekmantel and Draaimolen and releases on Clone and Dekmantel.

Her latest album, One Way Trip to Gaia, takes things into full sci-fi territory, blending bass-heavy beats, breakbeats and dub with pop sensibility and otherworldly sound design. Presented as an audiovisual show with visuals by Timaeus, the project explores a strange universe where human and alien biology merge.
