Hugo Kaagman is known as the Dutch stencil king. Already in the late 1970s, Kaagman was making stencils, a technique now widely used in street art, as a politically active artist. Kaagman was a pioneer in this field. In the 1980s when the streets of Amsterdam were filled with graffiti, Kaagman developed a unique and recognizable style that we still see in his work.

About

Hugo Kaagman

Hugo Kaagman aka 'stencil king' is a Dutch artist based in Amsterdam. He has his roots in the graffiti and punk scene of the 80's and even though his work has been embraced by public and commissioners ever since, it still can be seen on the streets, where his typical delft blue images adorn the walls and facades of many buildings. He wants to provoke or titillate the mind, and with his playful stencil works, an effortless mix of eastern and western image culture, never fails to do so!
