Housewives making drugs is exactly what you’d expect and also it isn’t: A ten minute video of a fictional cooking show, in which two women in the kitchen entertaining the viewers while learning them how to ‘cook’ their own estrogen. Because what if synthesizing hormones was as easy as cooking a meal? The wives in the title are Maria and Maria, two trans-femme stars that, while chatting with each other and the audience, are questioning the norms of our heteronormative society. What is wrong with traditional all American society? Choosing the kitchen as their backdrop and battleground gives direct access to all associations coming to mind when hearing the words; women, cooking, kitchen, and makes the talk about patriarchy and body sovereignty all the more pressing.
