Jitske van der Zee creates vibrant and dynamic drawings, where images intertwine and cascade across the paper. The sheer quantity of images reminds us of the visual overload we are confronted with on a daily basis in today's world.

She presents her drawings at an angle or in unconventional orientations on the wall, aiming to preserve the viewer's perspective as if they were witnessing the drawing process firsthand. This approach invites the viewer to engage with the artwork on a more intimate level.

This work is part of the KITT Youngblood XPO.

About

Jitske van der Zee

Jitske van der Zee explores colors, patterns, forms, and the world around her. She uses multiple colors and patterns to create a chaotic aesthetic, reflecting the fast-paced nature of our modern world, where there is always so much happening at once: social media, hurried people, big cities, radio, TV, and constant social connections.

Through her pieces she offers viewers the possibility of discovering something new each time they engage with her work.

Van der Zee is a graduate of the HKU Utrecht and nominated for the KITT Youngblood Award 2023.
